Hi, I have yet another problem with my motherboard lol. So everyone was telling me my MOBO was duel DDR2 and DDR3 well i spoke to 2 different computer places and both of them told me the 4 slots, yet different colors were all DDR2. So I purchased DDR3 sticks tried them and i turned on my comp and would turn on then half a second letter shut right off.(this was before i found out about the DDR2) So i went in my closet found the other 2 sticks of my old 512 MB ddr2 sticks and tried to place them in my MOBO. Well i put them in turned my comp on and it did the half a second power on then off again. So i took the last slot out tried it and did the same thing, Took the other one out i just put in and it booted right up. So my question is what would the problem be with my board? The one guy said my Ram slots might burnt out which i dont see how i just bought this board about a month or two ago and havnt used either of those slots.

It's a hard disk drive back in 1956... With 5 MB of storage.
In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'SUPER' computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored a 'whopping' 5 MB of data.

Hey all, I've got it in my mind to write some bash scripts to make my job a little easier...I'm often left with ~500 'orphan' folders, each of which may or may not contain typical user data (jpgs, mp3s, docs, etc), which is a pain for them to have to sort out, and something I just can't bring myself to do manually. Luckily, this seems like something that would be easy to write a script for.

I've written a little bit of it, and it's very basic (like my programming skills), but I seem to be having trouble understanding the 'or' functionality when used with the find command. What this script is supposed to do is look through these orphan folders, pick out files with certain extensions, and copy those files into an appropriately-named folder (ie, an 'mp3' directory for .mp3 files). Of course, for some files, like jpeg images, there are multiple extensions (.jpeg, .jpg). So, in these cases, I'd like the script to find all instances of those files with similar extensions and put them into a single directory (.jpeg and .jpg -> directory 'images/jpegs').

Here is a line from the script which illustrates my issue:

Code:

sudo find $src_path -name "*.avi" -or -name "*.mpg" -or -name "*.mpeg" -or -name "*.divx" -or -name "*.flv" -or -name "*.m4v" -or -name "*.mkv" -exec cp {} $dest_path/video \;

What I'm finding is that when I string together multiple extensions in this way with the '-or', the script does no copying. It's as if the entire script fails if a single extension does not have a representative file within the src_path. If that is what's going on, then I need to better understand how the -or and -and work. If that isn't what's going on, then maybe someone can dangle some shiny knowledge in front of my face.

I should note that without adding in the 'or's, and working only on a single file type at a time, the script works well, so I know it works the way it's supposed to some degree.

As a second project, I want to write a script (in either bash or python) that will list all attached block devices EXCEPT the boot device. I don't have anything really on this one, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, or to a good reference, that'd be great, and I'd be in your debt!

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I've also tried the following 'or's after some googling, but end up with the same lacking result:

Code:

sudo find $src_path -type f -name \*.dmg -o -name \*.iso -o -name \*.zip -o -name \*.rar -exec cp {} $dest_path/archive \;

sudo find $src_path -type f -name "\*.(dmg\|iso\|zip\|rar\)$" -exec cp {} $dest_path/archive \;

Edit 2: I tried adding multiple files of each type to the src_path and tried to rerun the script with the two snippets above. Turns out, even with all filetypes present in the src_path, nothing gets copied. Now...I'm really at a loss.

Image: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/4238/ep55hak01.jpg

Several newcomers have entered the motherboard market in recent years,
and thinking back on it, I actually miss the old days of intense competition between all the various motherboard manufacturers.
Nowadays consumers see fewer and fewer choices, many of which belong to the three major motherboard manufacturers.
At the same time, it seems that motherboard prices are getting higher and higher;
if there were a greater variety of manufacturers vying for customers within the market, consumers would be the true winners.

ECS has returned to the Taiwan market this year, and has put a lot of effort into giving its new motherboard products some exposure.
ECS seems to be on-par in terms of pricing, while ECS’ current OEM line of products are making strides in the high efficiency and overclocking realms,
resulting in an additional choice for high-level motherboards.

Intel has consistently set the LGA 1156-spec P55 chipset at the mid- to high-range portion of the consumer market.
Compared to the LGA 1366, the P55 lacks SLI support, multiple tasks PCI-E bandwidth support, and DDR3 technology support.
However, some high-level P55 products are able to connect external chipsets to strengthen the areas that are lacking.
The ECS P55H-AK I obtained is one of the few P55 products with high-level specs, which I will discuss more below.

First, looking at the exterior appearance of the P55H-AK, you notice that they use the less common colors of black, gray and gray-blue.
The product looks different from other motherboards since the colors used are very similar to one another,
resulting in a stately, solemn feel without seeming to overbearing.
